WhereNext and Kowa Join Forces to Make Birding More Accessible

Bogota, Colombia | January 25, 2022 - WhereNext has entered into a strategic partnership with the multinational optics company Kowa to support our in-house YouTube series, The Birders Show.

Kowa’s support will allow The Birders Show to continue its mission of making birding more accessible to people worldwide. Their sponsorship will help us to film a new season of The Birders Show with episodes based in some of the world’s most spectacular birding destinations. It will also allow us to subtitle our existing episodes into Spanish, making our birding content more accessible to a broader audience throughout Latin America and beyond.

Globally, birding boasts 40+ million enthusiasts. It has grown from a niche hobby with a reputation of being somewhat “uncool” to perhaps the world’s fastest-growing outdoor lifestyle activity. Our mission is to make the world of birding accessible to everyone through the production of The Birders Show. Now, Kowa optics has joined us on this mission! Their funds will help us produce more independent birding content, and their optics will enhance programs that inspire and educate fledgling birders around the world.
— Gregg Bleakney, WhereNext Founder and Director

Furthermore, Kowa will support our mission by helping us donate a number of pairs of their popular binocular range to aspiring birders and guides in regions with high barriers to access. We want to break down these barriers, and Kowa is committed to this dream.

One of the things that Kowa found most appealing about The Birders Show is that our mission reflects their company philosophy. Kowa is passionate about protecting the natural world for future generations and inspiring those future generations to enjoy and experience nature. Their focus on environmental safety and energy conservation in their manufacturing process is another reason they are a great partner for our storytelling agency.

The Birders Show is marvelously entertaining and hosts, Chris & Diego, are passionate about sharing the lives and habits of the wild birds they love. Beyond the birds though, their personal commitment to making birding more accessible to all is inspiring. So when asked if we would be interested in supporting their mission the answer was an immediate, “yes”!  Kowa Sporting Optics shares that same desire to inspire nature enthusiasts and we manufacture quality optics at every price point to make the hobby as affordable and enjoyable as possible. We couldn’t be happier or more proud to support this mission. We are looking forward to finding creative ways to help them provide optics to the new nature enthusiasts they reach and inspire with every trip and episode.
