We Are Thrilled to Share With You Our Marriage Announcement

Our Story

We were neighbors for three years in Bogotá but never met until just before the pandemic when our dogs played together in the small park between our apartment buildings. Our 6th date was in early March, and it was only supposed to be for the three-day quarantine that had just been imposed. Those three days turned into 6 months of strict stay-at-home lockdown in Gregg’s Bogotá apartment. We were engaged on December 4th, 2020, and moved into a new apartment together in Bogotá’s Virrey neighborhood in February 2021.

Anita grew up in Mendoza, the wine capital of Argentina. Her mother’s side of the family immigrated from France (she has dual Argentinian and French citizenship). She was a professional volleyball player until 2010 and gets lots of stares in Bogotá as she’s 6 feet tall. She works in HR and oversees 4,000 employees for a global tech company that has offices in Colombia.

Gregg grew up in Seattle, USA. He ran track and was a triple jumper for the University of Oregon. After working in the tech industry, he decided to ride his bicycle from Alaska to Argentina. During that trip, he was struck by lightning while cycling through a vineyard just south of Mendoza. Anita claims the lightning strike was her marking her territory in advance of our physical meeting 12 years later. Gregg owns a production company and creative agency with an office in Bogotá.

We’re both thankful that the strict pandemic restrictions in Colombia forced us to slow down long enough to fall in love with each other. In 2019 Gregg spent over 200 days traveling and was scheduled to do the same in 2020. Anita was slated to be transferred to her company’s Mexico office in mid-2020.

Our Marriage

We were married at the Notary 29 in downtown Bogotá on April 23, 2021. The city was ordered back into lockdown on our wedding day, which seemed appropriate considering that our entire courtship took place under mobility restrictions. After the ceremony, we enjoyed a candlelight dinner (sent by dear friends) in our new home. The next morning we flew to the Caribbean coast for our honeymoon.

Gifts

If you are considering the purchase of a gift for the occasion, please consider making a gift contribution to our 529 college savings account. This is a special account we opened to help save for the college expenses of our future (hasn’t happened yet to be clear 😁) kiddos. We can't think of a more meaningful gift than helping to make the dream of college possible for the next generation of our family.
