Data Manager - Assistant Video Editor

WhereNext, a visual storytelling agency with offices in Bogotá, Seattle, and Mexico City, is seeking a Data Manager and Assistant Video Editor to join our team in Bogotá, Colombia. This role requires a versatile professional with expertise in data management and video post-production.

This position combines key responsibilities in managing, organizing, and securing the company's and clients' assets, including media libraries, image banks, and project files. The candidate must prioritize the safety of information while ensuring easy access and coherence. They will also be responsible for maintaining the functionality of the company's NAS server, managing inventories and hard drive backups, and training team members on asset storage protocols.

The selected professional will also have experience in the audiovisual industry, particularly in video editing and media asset management, and will demonstrate proficiency in relevant software such as Adobe Suite (mostly Adobe Premiere and Adobe Lightroom). Additionally, they will be responsible for preparing photo and audiovisual equipment for on-site production and they should excel in managing production workflows. Since the safety and organization of information are essential for seamless creative production, this is an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team by bridging data management with visual and audiovisual production needs. With many international clients, a good command of written and spoken English is required.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Professional Degree in Multimedia Production, Audiovisual Media, Social Communication, Data Management, Advertising or related fields.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in video editing. Demonstrable experience with Adobe Suite and Synology NAS system. 

  • Bilingual in English (minimum B2 level) and Spanish (excellent written and verbal communication skills).

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, integrity, and quality of the data system, aligning data collection procedures with relevant business rules and guidelines, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Collect and transfer all types of media to the editing software, ensuring that all files are updated in the correct format.

  • Create and add new elements to the library of sounds, images, and effects using materials stored on company devices, and handle the selection, synchronization, and classification of audiovisual, photographic, and sound material produced. This includes organizing and naming the material.

  • Ensure the proper functioning of data collection software (Synology NAS) and perform required backups across various storage devices, such as NAS and hard drives.

  • Manage computer-based editing systems and equipment for video effects, design, and media.

  • Edit and create audiovisual material for the company, contributing creative ideas from conception to completion.

  • Provide post-production support to other departments as needed.

  • Train employees to collect data autonomously and error-free, while developing and implementing data management policies and protocols.

  • Maintain and update the inventory of production equipment, including documenting data and photographic evidence of the equipment in collaboration with the Operations team. Additionally, manage office workstations and coordinate necessary updates or repairs with external consultants.

  • Prepare all video, sound, and editing equipment, ensuring it's ready and fully functional for use.
