WhereNext Takes Home Five Telly Awards for Cat Footwear ‘Surge On’ Campaign

Seattle, WA – 28 May 2020

WhereNext received five prestigious Telly Awards for our work with Cat Footwear on their "Surge On" campaign for their line of Stormers boots.

Gold Telly Award for Online Commercials Campaign

Our storytelling agency’s production of the Surge On campaign was awarded the Gold Telly Award in the Online Commercials Campaign category.

Four Silver Medals

The centerpiece of the Surge On campaign, our documentary “The Value of a Wild Heartbeat,” received Silver Medals in four categories:

Branded Content General-Not-for-Profit

Branded Content General-Fashion & Lifestyle

Branded Content General-Social Impact

Branded Content General-Documentary: Individual

Client: Cat Footwear

These awards recognize Cat Footwear's "Surge On" campaign, created by our storytelling agency to promote their Stormers muck boots, developed for people who live and work in the wet outdoors. With this in mind, we created a campaign focused on The Wildlife Center of the North Coast, on the reliably rainy Pacific coast, west of Portland, Oregon.

Documentary Subject: Wildlife Center of the North Coast

For 23 years, The Wildlife Center of the North Coast has been rescuing and rehabilitating injured, sick, orphaned, and displaced native wildlife on the Oregon coast. Their goal is to release healthy animals back into their native habitat, and although they specialize in seabird rehabilitation, the Center receives such diverse species as hawks, songbirds, and mammals. They rely entirely on public donations and the dedication of a small team of staff and volunteers to care for over 2,000 animal patients every year.

Filmed on Location in Oregon

Our visual campaign, "The Value of a Wild Heartbeat," was filmed at The Wildlife Center of the Northwest in Astoria, Oregon. It features Morgan Heim, a Senior Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers and passionate advocate for the Center's work. It tells the story of Joshua Saranpaa and his journey from a 16-year-old volunteer to the Center's Executive Director. The wet and muddy conditions of the Center and its location on the rainswept Oregon coast were the perfect locations to create a campaign for Stormers boots.

Telling a Great Story Through Supporting a Great Cause

Additionally, Cat Footwear provided boots for the staff and team of volunteers and donated $5,000 to the Wildlife Center to support its mission to protect and rehabilitate wildlife.

Above all, this campaign tells a great story of the unsung heroes of conservation and animal welfare. As such, it fits perfectly with the theme of the 41st Annual Telly Awards. According to Sabrina Dridje, Managing Director of The Telly Awards, "our theme for this season, Telly Award Winners Tell Great Stories is a true reflection of the diversity of stories the community is skilfully able to tell. Now, more than ever, do we need to celebrate them and those that bring global stories to our attention. This award is a tribute to the talent and vision of these creators."
