Partnering with Like-Minded NGOs in Colombia

WhereNext believes in being good actors in our point of origin and partners with purpose-driven Colombian NGOs and charitable organizations to offer pro bono production and post-production services. We are passionate about exploring Colombia, cycling, and wildlife, and our choices of local partners reflect these passions.

Video Production to Promote Humanitarian Missions

The Patrulla Aerea Civil Colombiana

Private pilots founded the Patrulla Aerea Civil Colombiana (Colombian Civil Air Patrol or PAC) over half a century ago. Their goal was to provide medical, surgical, humanitarian, and emergency medical care to Colombian towns inaccessible by road. They currently fly over 100,000 miles a year and have facilitated over 100,000 Colombian citizens' treatment in just the past decade.

We are passionate supporters of the PAC's mission to provide healthcare to all Colombians, no matter how isolated their communities are. We have been fortunate enough to work extensively on productions in many of the remote regions where they work and have strong working relationships with those communities. We share the PAC's vision of healthcare for all Colombians.

Over the years, we have produced videos to promote their mission and share the stories of the citizens they serve. Their work depends entirely on volunteers and donations and has taken on even greater urgency during this pandemic year as they fly Covid tests back from rural communities to be analyzed in Bogota. To help raise awareness and funds for this life-saving task, we worked pro-bono to produce new videos highlighting the essential services they provide during this difficult time.

Post-Production to Document a Shared Mission

FUN Esteban Chaves

FUN Esteban Chaves was founded by its namesake, the Colombian Grand Tour cyclist. The foundation works with children and young people through the twin pillars of sport and medicine and offers alternatives to kids who might otherwise see no way out of the difficult situations they were born into.

Every year, the foundation organizes a race exclusively for young Colombian cyclists aged 20 and below, the 'Gran Fondo Esteban Chaves.' We offered our production services pro-bono to the foundation to film the race and a short series of videos telling young people's stories positively impacted by cycling and the foundation's work.

This year, we were also able to bring two of the foundations we support together for an extraordinary project – we connected FUN Chaves with the PAC to help bring 11-year-old Johanny Stiven Borray Rojas to Bogota from his home in Florencia for necessary follow-up surgery related to his cerebral paralysis. We connected FUN Chaves with the PAC to make this flight happen and edited a video telling this moving story using footage provided by the two foundations.

Video Editing for Jaguar Conservation

Panthera Colombia

Many of our most notable projects in Colombia have been focused on ecotourism, wildlife, and conservation. We've also spent a lot of time filming on the Eastern Plains region's spectacular natural reserves. So we were delighted to be able to give back to support the preservation of the region's most iconic predator, the mighty jaguar.

In partnership with Panthera Colombia and Hato La Aurora Natural Reserve (where we have worked on projects including The Birders and Colombia Me Inspira), we edited a video of jaguar footage taken on the reserve to support Panthera's 'Jaguar Month' initiative. This took place throughout November and was designed to draw attention to the plight facing these majestic cats and the ecosystems they inhabit.

This video that we created for Hato La Aurora and the Panthera Foundation was designed to showcase their participation in the “Colombia Riqueza Natural” competition. This prize, awarded by the Colombian government and USAID, recognizes pioneering sustainable tourism projects in Colombia. We’re proud to share the news that, with this video as the cornerstone of their entry, Hato La Aurora and Panthera were one of the four national winners of “Colombia Riqueza Natural.” The prize money of up to US$50,000 will be an invaluable contribution to their fight to preserve jaguar populations, help create a sustainable jaguar corridor in Colombia, and bring ecotourism to the region in an environmentally-friendly way.

Our Colombia production company is delighted to leave a positive footprint in the country we are proud to call home. For more information on our work with these NGOs and how to collaborate with them, contact us here.
