The Best Coffee Shops: Bogota, Quinta Camacho

Our Colombian film production company's Bogotá office is in Quinta Camacho, one of the Colombian capital's trendiest neighborhoods and a hotbed for new restaurants, bars, and cafes. Measuring just five blocks from north to south and six blocks east to west, Quinta Camacho packs a lot into a tiny area.

Our Bogotá team members are fervent Quinta Camacho explorers: they have scouted lunch spots, where to drink Colombia's best coffee, and have an encyclopedic knowledge of the top craft beer joints. So, we decided to create a neighborhood guide to the favorite spots in our barrio.

For this edition of our neighborhood guide, let us introduce you to the best coffee shops in Quinta Camacho.

Café Cultor

Café Cultor is Quinta Camacho's largest specialty coffee outlet and is one of the very finest coffee options in the entire city. Trained baristas serve top-notch Colombian coffee sourced from small farms across the country, and you can even sit up at the counter and learn about the ins and outs of each preparation method.

The space is large and multifaceted: there's a beautiful patio with different seating areas, a relaxing running water feature, cozy indoor seating, and even a large conference room with a long table perfect for out-of-office coffee meetings or pitches.

Address: Calle 70A #10-47

Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Libertario Coffee Roasters

Libertario Coffee Roasters serves some of the best local coffee from three chic locations in Bogota and a new spot in Cartagena's hip Getsemani barrio. Their Quinta Camacho location recently opened in Ventolini restaurant just across from the Carulla supermarket. They serve a range of specialty coffees, many of them sourced from the nearby farm and boutique coffee hotel, La Palma y El Tucan.

With a strong focus on social and environmental sustainability, they donate a percentage of all their sales to reforestation and regenerative agricultural projects around Colombia, so you know that your freshly brewed morning coffee is helping to make a difference.

Address: Cra 10A #70-10

Opening Hours: Monday-Thursday, Sundays & Holidays: 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Colo Coffee

This Bogota-based chain of specialty coffee shops used to have two different sites in Quinta Camacho. The original site was formerly known as Bourbon Coffee (the former owners recently founded the highly recommended Tropicalia cafe in the upscale El Nogal neighborhood).

The new location recently opened as a small pop-up-style cafe on the buzzing Irish Pub patio. It's a small site but serves a full range of delicious coffee methods, from Chemex to Aeropress. Plus, if you're remote working, you can grab a pint once the clock strikes 5!

Address: Cra 10A #70-48

Opening Hours: Monday, Tuesday, & Sunday: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday: 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m

Wilborada 1047

Although this small cafe is a Café Cultor location, it deserves a separate spot on this list because of its unique location. Tucked away inside Wilborada 1047 bookshop in a beautiful old redbrick house just off Calle 71, it's a pleasant and peaceful little spot with a handful of tables and a few comfy couches among the stacked bookshelves.

This is one of the quietest cafes for working in Quinta Camacho, and the bookshop itself carries an excellent range of titles in both Spanish and English. However, beware of the idiosyncratic opening hours, designed to match the bookstore's name and address: this isn't the spot to grab your pre-work coffee!

Address: Calle 71 #10-47

Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday: 10:47 a.m. - 7:47 p.m. Sunday: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m

Herbívoro

While not strictly a coffee shop, this new branch of the popular vegan restaurant serves well-priced, organic Colombian coffee in an airy, well-lit space on Calle 71. At just 2,500 COP for an Americano made with beans from Huila department, Herbívoro is one of the best spots to grab an on-the-go coffee on the way to work or after a hearty vegan lunch. The space also regularly hosts local craft markets, where you can also find bags of locally-produced coffee to take home.

Address: Calle 71 #9-55

Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Bealé Pâtisserie

"Charming" is an overused word for reviewing cafes. Still, this Parisian-style bakery oozes the stuff, from the pastel pink walls to the impossibly delicate and aesthetically pleasing gourmet pastries. They also serve delicious Libertario coffee from La Palma y El Tucan.

As with many Quinta Camacho cafes, bars, and restaurants, the setting inside a restored house gives the place a cozy feel. A spacious outside patio is always an option if the sun is shining.

Address: Cra 12 #70A-20

Opening Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

El Rincon de Macondo

Named after the fictional setting of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, El Rincon de Macondo has a similarly magical feeling to it. Tucked away upstairs in a second-hand bookshop and antique dealers on Eleventh Avenue, it has the slightly scruffy charm of a traditional old Bogota cafe, all mismatched furniture and flowers bouquets on each table. The coffee might not be on the same award-winning level as some other entrants, but El Rincon de Macondo's offbeat vibe and setting make up for it.

Address: Cra 11 #67-20

Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
