Introducing our Mexican production company’s new producer, Daniela Beltrán. Daniela was born in Mexico City and has worked in production since graduating. She’s an expert in digital marketing with a love for traveling, storytelling, and some interesting Mexican delicacies!

Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Mexico City. The moment I graduated from university I started working in production, primarily for large-scale events, and thanks to that work I had the opportunity to meet great people like Ennio Morricone, Chavela Vargas, Ray Manzarek, Robby Keiger, Joaquín Sabina, and many marvelous people. I qualified as a communications specialist and also took a Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing to design and implement digital communication strategies for the cultural, political, and commercial spheres for a number of Mexican agencies. I am a salesperson in my own “digital marketplace” that seeks to improve consumer habits to make the world a better place.

Tell us about your most memorable travel experience.

Traveling is one of my greatest passions, and fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to visit many different parts of the world. But the trip that has probably had the biggest impact on me was one I took to Central Africa, to the Serengeti. That trip was so full of contrasts: on one side, the magic of the plains, being close to native people like the Maasai, and having the chance to observe wild animals in their natural environment was incredible. However, the poverty and shortages in the big cities and child hunger had a big impact on me. There, I learned that all my actions have an impact, which is why we have to try and make sure to have a positive impact, or at least the least negative one possible.

Dead or alive, who would you like to join you on an adventure?

Werner Herzog. His views and perspective on life are totally unique. His capacity for observation and storytelling drives me crazy, and without a doubt, living with him would be an adventure all on its own.

What are your travel equipment essentials?

A towel (just like Ford Prefect said), water, a toothbrush, a jacket, a swimsuit, and shoes that I can walk in comfortably.

Daniela, enjoying doing what she loves for a living.

When did you feel happiest?

I think I’m generally a pretty happy person, but if I had to choose some moments that have made me happy, they would be hugging trees, feeling the sea on my feet, and listening to a good story.

Who taught you your biggest life lesson, and what was it?

My mum. She told me this once when I was a little girl: “Make it so that people pay you for doing what you love.” Up until now, that’s how my life has been: I do what I love and get paid for it.

You can teleport to any restaurant on Earth: where do you go, and what do you order?

I don’t think I’d go to any restaurant, and I’d choose my grandmother’s cooking. She could stew food from all over the world like the best cook on earth.

Tell us about the most adventurous food you’ve ever eaten.

In Africa, I tried zebra and crocodile meat, but I didn’t really like the idea of eating such beautiful animals, so I didn’t enjoy it very much. However, I regularly eat insects, particularly fried crickets. I even have a recipe for potato tortilla with fried crickets, it’s delicious.

Drink of choice?

Stour beer, single-malt whisky, and mezcal.

Where do you feel most at home?

Anywhere in Mexico, but Mexico City will always feel the most like home.

Daniela Beltrán, producer for our Mexican production company.

Cerveza Stout, whisky (single malt) y mezcal
